The Number of Endangered Species in Canada is Growing

Please read this article with Mr. Mokriy: http://teachingkidsnews.com/2014/12/10/number-endangered-species-canada-growing/ and then answer the following question:

The article explains, “Loss of habitat is one of the leading causes of extinction.” Why do you think this is the case?
What could be some other causes of extinction?

  1. Loss of habitat is one of the leading causes of extinction because builders are knocking down trees to make room for houses and apartment buildings. These were places that animals were living in and now they must find new homes. Another cause of extinction is hunting. This is bad because they are being harvested and hunted down.

  2. Why do you think animals are becoming endangered? If animals are losing their habitat then they will be endangered as well. One of the main reasons is because of habitat loss and use for peoples homes. Some of the other causes are people hunting the animals.

  3. Why are animals becoming endangered ? I think animals are endangered because people are hunting them and building houses and losing its habitat. Some of the other causes are animal has diseases and hunting. Diseases and hunting are a big problem because they are making animals extinct.
